In order to prepare a team capable of setting up an EU project design and management unit in Partner Countrys’ HEIs, a practical training session took place in a Programme Country HEI from the 12th to 16th of March 2018.

Three staff members from the University of Balamand were chosen to participate in a Practical Placement Session at La Sapienza University of Rome. The training programme was designed to adapt to the specific needs of the Partner Country HEI and ensure that the objectives are reached to the highest possible standards.

During the period from the 12th to the 14th of March, several seminars and field trips took place in Sapienza University Athenaeum. The Partner Country members had the opportunity to see and understand the organization of international affairs in the Programme Country HEI, in this case, of La Sapienza University. They acquired knowledge about the structure, management; research and technology transfer activities through interactive seminars and open discussions with experts about Horizon 2020, MSCA and ENI CBC and Erasmus+.

During the period from the 15th to the 16th of March, there were practical training activities in the Faculty of Architecture Campus at Sapienza University. The Partner Country staff members participated in two training workshops. The first workshop allowed them to gain hands-on experience in drafting a successful Erasmus+ Capacity Building project proposal. The second workshop was tailored to respond to the requests of Balamand University in acquiring practical competencies for Erasmus+ Capacity building project proposals evaluation and revision.

The learning experience was engaging and innovative for interactive tools such as videos and games were used. The agenda included interactive seminars, field trips, practical workshops and open debates between trainees and trainers. The Practical Placement Session allowed Partner Country HEI members to acquire necessary practical skills -through direct contact with experts from a Programme Country HEI- in running their individual EU project design and management unit, which will serve as a contact point for other HEIs in their region.
